As the sun dipped behind the horizon, Hujaaj quickly tried to squeeze in their final duas before heading to Muzdalifah, where pilgrims will spend the night under the stars.

Here they will also collect their stones which will be used in the stoning-the-shaytaan ritual which will expiate their sins.

Today has been an emotional day for those who travelled from the tent city of Mina to Arafat, which is a key ingredient in the performing of Hajj. Visuals showed Hujaaj supplicating their creator, begging for mercy from the endless treasures of Allah.

It’s also been an emotional day for those who had previously performed hajj. Reminiscence of the day they stood on that very land, which they one day will face Allah, well up tears in their eyes. People from around the world spoke as one today, as their hearts softened with memories and hopes alike of supplicating their Lord.

Cii presenter Ebrahim Moosa highlighted the fact that the blessed Hujaaj started their journey in sparkling white sheets, and after today, they are somewhat dusty and disheveled, after traveling to the plains of Arafat, and will leave after having shed many a tear to their creator and “their hearts are as white as the sea of humanity that is flowing out of Arafat.”

The day of Arafat was anticipated by millions. Today, millions of people raised their hands to the sky on that very land. Now, as they leave, Arafat will lie in wait for the millions who will be fortunate enough tread on that holy land in a years time.

The guests of Allah leave, spiritually cleansed.
