The South African Hajj and Umrah Council secretary general, Shaheen Essop, said his team is impressed with the health regulations put in place by the Saudi government.

Saudi officials have deployed army officials, civil defence teams and other state run organs to maintain the maximum safety and health of all 3 million Hujaj.

On the first day of Hajj, Essop said their teams are ready since they arrived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

“We are working with the operators to make sure that the Hujaaj have the best services in terms f their process,” he said.

He said that although there haven’t been many problems within the South African camps, their teams are well prepared.

Shaheen noted that he has been on the ground since the start of the Hajj seeing to the busses and ensuring all movements take place with peace.
