One of Egypt’s most distinguished Quraa of the current generation has begun his eagerly anticipated third visit to South Africa. Qari Hajjaj Ramadan al Hindawi is the official reciter of Masjid Quwaatul Musalahah in Cairo and currently the most highly rated Qari on Egyptian radio.

A national tour starting this week will see him visiting Masaajid in Gauteng, KwaZulu Natal and Mpumalanga. The opening programme of the tour has been scheduled for Friday October 4, at Masjid Khalid bin Waleed in Nigel.

Qari al Hindawi is widely travelled and has recited for audiences in venues across most continents of the world. He has visited England, France, USA, Canada, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Iran, Madagascar as well as Reunion.

He is famed as one of only four reciters to have ever been granted permission to recite on Egypt’s official Quraan radio station at such a young age, following a stringent examination procedure. Based on his giftedness, the Egyptian Ministry of Awqaf had also offered him permission to recite at any Masjid of choice across the country.

Organisers have described his manner of recital as being “natural” and “sweet” with all the hallmarks of great Egyptian Quraa of the past. “He does not copy or imitate anybody. He just has a natural ability to read with such extreme beauty and strength.”

In the spirit of sharing the eternal beauty of the Quraan with its global listenership, Cii will broadcast many of Qari Hajjaj Ramadan al Hindawi’s recitals live via its multiple platforms.
