A group of South African Muslims have launched a came to hold peaceful protests meant to defend the honour of the Prophet Muhammed (saw) in the face of mounting blasphemy.
A peaceful picket has been planned by the United Muslim Nations Organization (UMNO) outside the US Embassy in Sandton, Johannesburg.
It is due to take place on Friday, September 28 from 13:30 until 15:00.
Muslims across the world have been outraged regarding an insolent film, Innocence of Muslims, which portrays the Prophet Muhammed (saw) in a repulsive manner.
Event coordinator, Salmaan Khan said the purpose of the picket is to demonstrate their dismay regarding the film, Innocence of Muslims.
“We are going there as a peaceful picket, there will be no incitement or hate speech,” he said.
Protestors will be urged to follow the disposition of the Prophet Muhammed (saw) by behaving in a peaceful and dignified manner.
“We have been given permission by the US Embassy to bring the petition and the memorandum to the US Embassy,” Khan said.
He further reiterated that the main goal is to portray the true character of the blessed Prophet (saw).
Khan said individuals willing to assist or require more information should contact 0826916049.
