Islamophobia and anti-Muslim sentiment has once again reached a high point in the US with the burning down of a masjid (mosque) in Joplin, Missouri, on Monday.

Several weeks ago the masjid was also attacked by suspected arsonists resulting in the burning of part of its roof.

“This incident should not stop us from worshiping our God,” one member of the Islamic Society of Joplin told CNN affiliate KYTV. “We are going to find a place probably to continue our service to God.”

Investigations have already started as to what could have caused the latest blaze that razed the building to the ground.

All the CCTV cameras were destroyed in the flames that were so intense the bricks were reportedly still hot hours after the fire.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations has called for increased police protection at other places of worship.
