A Washington DC police officer is under investigation for allegedly making a threatening comment about shooting the United States first lady Michelle Obama.
The unidentified officer who was assigned as part of the presidential motorcade was overhead making the comment to fellow colleagues.
The Metropolitan police then notified the Secret Service. A spokesperson for the agency which oversees security for the president and his family said the agency was aware of the incident and was taking “appropriate follow-up steps.” The agency declined to provide more details.
Police Chief Cathy Lanier said there was conflicting information about what actually was said and that the department’s internal affairs unit was investigating.
The White House had no immediate comment.
