The Free Aafia movement has made a call to the public to submit postcards in
solidarity with Dr Aafia Siddiqui on July 4.

Postcards are being conveyed by concerned citizens to U.S. Consulates in a
number of countries where Dr. Aafia Siddiqui Support Committees have been
established.

July 4th marks Independence Day in the United States.

Aafia’s sister, Dr Fawzia Siddiqui, said that they hope this will generate a
positive outcome “We started this because we hope the Americans will listen to the public on a humanitarian appeal,” she said.

She noted that that the 4th of July is symbolic to peace and justice in
America and they hope the US authorities will show a similar disposition
towards Aafia.

“We really very hopeful that they will respond and show the world that
America is not only about occupation and tyranny it’s also about mercy and
compassion,” Dr Fawzia said.

The freeaafia.org website has the postcards that are ready to be downloaded
and submitted.

Reads the message: “Dr. Sir/Madam, This is a birthday message of peace and
justice to the United States of America from the People of the World: Free
Dr. Aafia Siddiqui now! The world is watching – let freedom ring.”

Dr Fawzia said she has already received overwhelming support from all over
the world, from 1st world countries like Australia and UK to obscure
countries such as Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

“A lot of these people have been downloading the cards, having them printed,
photocopied, and petitions are being signed,” she said.

She speculated that ‘hundreds of thousands’ of appeals have gone to the
various US consulates internationally.
