Today is D Day for the Education department to deliver text books to more than 5000 Limpopo schools six months into the school year when students are beginning their mid term examinations.

The writing was on the board when last month the North Gauteng high court ruled that the department had acted unconstitutionally by failing to provide pupils with textbooks

Thousands of Limpopo school children have been without learning materials since the beginning of the year. The provincial departments of Education was placed under administration back in December.

Rights NGO section 27 and the association of school governing bodies hauled the department to court over the missing textbooks and won! The court also ordered the national and provincial education departments to implement”catchup” plans for all pupils affected by the delay.
