Students from the Johannesburg Muslim School today expressed their support for Dr Aafia Siddiqui, who was unlawfully imprisoned in the United States for 86 years.
The students marched within the school chanting “Takbeer- Allah is great” and “Free Sister Aafia”.
The girls wore purple scarves, a colour which depicts solidarity with Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.
‘‘We demand justice for Aafia, read one poster among the many that displayed creativity and hard work from the students.
A program following the small rally consisted of discussions about human rights in Islam, as well as a discussion of basic human rights.
Sketches and recitals followed all in the spirit of freedom and democracy.
The young enchanting, Hafiz Yasin Choonara wowed the crowed with songs dedicated to Aafia Siddiqui.
This program contributed towards the global movement to free Aafia. Today marks the 9th anniversary of her abduction from Pakistani soil.
She is currently in the FMC Carswell prison, serving an 86 year Jail sentence.
