Hana Shalabi will not be forced to eat against her will regardless of her health condition, according to the head lawyer representing her, Jawaad Bulus.
Yesterday Palestinian prisoner rights Group Addameer released a joint statement with Physicians for Human Rights-Israel (PHR-Israel) saying they may have to force feed her as her health has taken a turn for the worse.
Jawaad Bulus a lawyer from the Palestinian Prisoner Society told Cii that they will not force Hana Shalabi to end her hunger strike.
He was on his way to the Meir hospital in central Israel to visit Hana and assess her health.
“I will be seeing her today and I will find out about her health,” Bulus said.
Hana entered her 41 day of hunger striking on Tuesday.
He said that Hana remains resilient and refuses to eat until her demands are met.
“When the Israelis tried to force feed her, she refused and said ‘you cant do that’,” Bulus explained.
Under the directorship of a doctor working for the International Committee of the Red Cross, vitamins are mixed with the water she is consuming.
“These vitamins are for the brain maintenance and it is not regarded by the law as any kind of food,” Bulus said.
